common man, it really is a toss up between Lemieux and Gretzky for being the greatest player ever. even Gretzky said that the only time he ever played with someone better than himself was when he played with Lemieux.
Well, just remember that it is a Lemieux video we’re commenting on here….but in all fairness no one can deny the numbers Gretzky put up. And for that, he’ll probably get the nod on most of the all-time greatest polls ahead of the likes of Lemieux, Howe, Orr, and Orr.
All I’m saying is that, numbers aside, no one can convince me that any player could trump Lemieux’s talent. It would be fair to say that Gretzky is right there with him, but I can’t be convinced Wayne is better.

Every stupid list you’ll ever see will give the kudos to Wayne due to health and longevity, but Lemieux trumps Gretzky as the best pure hockey talent ever. It is a comparison that goes beyond a statistical comparison. The idiots that call themselves expert hockey historians just don’t get it…and never will.
Take a look at these goals…Gretzky never scored goals like this…and this is only ten.

yeah i know what you mean people all bad mouth him this guy fought through cancer twice and look at his stats i think he may of broken the 215 point record if he were to of remained healthy and maybe even break 3000 points in NHL totals

dude lemieux had jagr, recci, francis, stevens,murphy, samulson… yeah edmonton had the better team but what gretz did statistically still made him (and i quote you) the better “all-rounded” player
everybody knows that mario suffered many injuries, but im not sure everyone know the effects they had on his stats. Mario was on the rise after 88-89, with a 2.62 PPG. In 89-90 his back problems got worse and in 59 GP his PPG was 2.08. In 90-91 he played 26 games, and his PPG was 1.73. In 91-92 it was 2.05, In 92-93 it was 2.67. I believe if he had actually been healthy, he could have remained in the 2.6 PPG area from 88-89 to 92-93. And with a 2.3 PPG in 95-96, he could have done it from 93-95
