“wings and blues is the real rivalry”? were u like deepfrozen in a cave or sumthin between 1996 and 2002?!
yea…but it seemed that after that hit, Malkin wasn’t the same for the rest of the playoffs…I still think Malkin is a beast though.
The way I see it, Crosby and Malkin are the second coming of Gretzky and Forsberg, whereas Mike Richards is destined to be this generation’s Mark Messier.
I agree, Flyers/Pens rivalry is awesome.
Yeah, Mike Richards is no Crosby, but I’d be ecstatic to have him on my team. Richards is clutch.
Although, the most memorable event of the series to me was Richards’ hit on Malkin, then Malkin getting up and blasting a puck seemingly straight through Biron, followed by the Incredible Malk gesture towards the stands.
Oh, and this video is just amazing. I wish I’d seen this live.
I watched this live and i’ll never forget this goal as long as I live. I hugged the TV for 10 minutes. It was so story book.
I know that Crosby and Malkin are much more offensively gifted than Richards and Briere, but Richards put a blueprint out in the ECF on how to play Malkin…you hit the hell out of him. When that happens, I’ve noticed that Malkin gets upset alot and will perform cheap shots(see game 4 of Pens-Rangers) and takes himself out of traffic. Briere is a diminutive, but speedy and talented forward…plus, there’s no other team that comes closer to matching the Pens depth up the middle than the Flyers.
I don’t want to be rude, but if you think Mike Richards or Daniel Briere can handle Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, your just straight up dreaming.
This was a silver lining, a great swan song for Mario Lemieux, in a series that was dominated by the Flyers.
I have so much respect for Super Mario and that Pens team that year. Mario and Jagr was so dominating, its not even funny.
The Pens/Flyers rivalry is easily the most entertaining and intense rivalry in the NHL right now. And will get better and better, as both teams continue to improve. Crosby vs. Richards…agitators will also be great, since ppl hate Hartnell, downie, and Cote in Pit.
Avs wings? The Wings vs. Blues is the real rivalry. Look at all the fights, player swapping and history. Anyway….nice to see Lemieux go out like this, I loved watching this guy play.
For me, this goes down as the best goal ever. He has had better, but to score on a breakaway AFTER the crowd calls you out for a curtain call for one last shift is amazing. Delivered as only the Big Guy can do.
Always miss The Best
I assure you Cooke is a pesk.. you wait. Vancouver knows all about him, you will get exactly what your looking for trust me.
Crosby setting up Gaborik would dominate…that would make the Pens really scary to play against. He’s prolly come at about 8-10MM a year though, cause he’s better than Hossa(or will be). I doubt that Minnie will let Gabby go, since they’ve already lost Brian Rolston. Demitra would have been a good pickup but Naslund’s stock has gone down, since his point production has decreased steadily since putting up 104 points in 01-02.
matt cooke is better offensily than ruutu and godard is cheaper then laraque. hossa and malone were great but satan and Fed are decent replacements. i think they shouldhave gone after naslund and demitra more then they did…oh well
yr right, big bunch of good wingers next year in FA
maybe we can get marian gabroik, he is a great player
Yea, i was thinking of someone else…not Aucoin…as for Hartnell, lol, yea i’ll even admit he’s a prick on the ice sometimes, but you get them alot. Fedotenko is decent but he’s a softie, in my opinion. But if he plays with Malkin, he’ll do fine. He’s kind of like Max Talbot. Satan is a good fit though…despite him being older than the Pens would like.
i don’t think he’s hated here that bad.i just think he is a cement head.remember the pens will also be looking for wingers next season.and for the wingers playing beside sid, gino or stall looks pretty good.the problem this year is we have very little toughness.i can’t believe they didn’t pick up anyone that is physical.isn’t aucoin like 36 now?whats the deal with fedatenko?(misspelled)is he lazy?or will he do alright in pgh?

ah, fuck me that was beautiful
